The Impact of Thyroid Disease on Women’s Health

 

Statement of Need/Program Overview

This program examines thyroid function and dysfunction, focusing on common complaints in women with both known and unknown thyroid diseases. It explores the impact of thyroid disease on women’s health, highlighting its implications. The program further discusses guideline-based thyroid testing, and includes case presentations to review symptoms, diagnosis, and testing methods, offering practical examples for further understanding.

Target Audience

This activity is intended for medical professionals who have a clinical interest in thyroid disorders as seen in the following medical specialties: endocrinology, primary care (IM, FP, GP), obstetrics/gynecology, cardiology, pediatrics, laboratory medicine, nuclear medicine, ophthalmology, neurology, psychiatry, and sleep medicine.

Educational Objectives

After completing the activity, the participant should be better able to:

  • Distinguish thyroid function and dysfunction.
  • Describe common complaints in women with unknown and known thyroid disease.
  • Describe impact of thyroid disease on women’s health.

In order to receive credit, participants must complete the course, score at least a 70% on the post test, complete the course evaluation form, and submit a credit application. A copy of the certificate will also be sent to the email address provided in the credit application.
